The VideoWhiz Dossier: How We Build Video That Performs

Published by the editorial desk at VideoWhiz · Updated June 2026 · Reading time: ~6 minutes

Most video production companies will show you a reel and ask for a brief. We do it differently. Every engagement at VideoWhiz begins with what we call a narrative audit — a structured conversation where we dissect what your audience actually needs to feel, know, or do after watching your content. This is not a creative meeting. It is a diagnostic session.

We operate from a converted linen mill studio in South Breitenberg, Northern Ireland. The space houses two shooting stages, a dedicated sound booth, and a post-production suite that handles everything from rough assembly to final master delivery. Our team of seven permanent staff is supplemented by a rotating bench of three to five freelance specialists depending on project scope.

"VideoWhiz didn't just make our corporate video. They restructured how we think about visual communication internally. The audit alone was worth the engagement." — T. Malone, Operations Lead, Causeway Logistics

We divide our work into three editorial tracks. Track A covers commercial and brand video — adverts, product launches, social campaigns. Track B handles documentary and long-form narrative — anything over five minutes that requires sustained storytelling. Track C is our post-production-only service, where clients bring existing footage and we handle editing, grading, sound design, and delivery.

Every track follows the same quality framework. We call it the Three-Gate Review: a structural edit review at 40% completion, a fine-cut review at 75%, and a final delivery review with client sign-off. No project ships without clearing all three gates.

Our pricing is project-based, never hourly. We quote after the narrative audit, and the quote includes a detailed scope document that both parties sign. Change requests are handled through a transparent amendment process — no surprise invoices.

§7 — The Pipeline: How a Project Moves Through VideoWhiz

Every project follows the same structural pipeline regardless of track. The pipeline is not a creative process — it is a quality assurance mechanism. Creativity happens within each phase; the pipeline ensures nothing is missed, nothing is rushed, and the client always knows where their project stands.

Phase 1 — Narrative Audit (1–2 days): We meet, we listen, we diagnose. The output is a written brief that both parties agree on before any creative work begins.

Phase 2 — Scope & Quote (1–3 days): A detailed scope document with deliverables, timeline, and cost. No ambiguity. The quote is the quote.

Phase 3 — Production (variable): Shooting, recording, asset creation. For Track C, this phase is replaced by footage intake and assessment.

Phase 4 — Post-Production (variable): Edit, grade, sound, graphics. Three-Gate Review applies here. Client feedback is structured, not ad hoc.

Phase 5 — Delivery & Archive (1–2 days): Final masters exported in agreed formats. Project files archived for 18 months. A post-delivery debrief is offered on request.

Frequently Raised Questions

Do you work with clients outside Northern Ireland?
Yes. While our studio is in South Breitenberg, we regularly take on remote post-production work and have shot on location across the UK and Ireland. For international projects, we discuss logistics during the narrative audit phase and factor travel into the scope document.
What happens if I need changes after the final delivery?
Minor revisions within the agreed scope are handled at no extra charge. If the requested changes fall outside the original scope — for example, re-editing a sequence that was already approved at Gate 2 — we issue a transparent amendment quote. Project files are archived for 18 months, so returning to a project later is straightforward.
Can I supply my own footage for editing and grading?
Absolutely. That is exactly what Track C is designed for. We accept footage in most professional formats including ProRes, RAW, and H.264/H.265. During intake, we assess the material and provide an honest evaluation of what is achievable in post before committing to a scope.
